High Flow Configuration using Sonic Nozzles, to test component parts per OEM Air Flow Test Specifications.
Specifications:
Flow Range: 0.0005 lbm/sec [0.00023 kg/sec] min (@ 30psia, 70F [@ 2.07 bar, a 21.1C]) to 1.043 lbm/sec [0.47 kg/sec] max (@ 70psia, 70F [@4.8 bar, a 21.1C]) (other ranges are available). The test stand uses 10 Sonic Nozzles with a binary area progression varying from 0.031” to 0.707” in throat diameters.
Note: at part pressure values of 0.414 MPa the minimum flow of this configuration is 0.00084 Kg/s and will have measurement gaps from 0.00084 – 0.0016 Kg/s and from 0.0056 – 0.007 Kg/s.
Effective Area (Ae) range at PR =1.25: 0.0015 to 3.0 in^2 (.0097 to 19.35 cm^2).
Uncertainty, +/- 0.29% of reading and traceable to NIST standards.
Repeatability: Estimated better than +/-0.15% as defined as 2 standard deviations divided by the mean of 20 identical samples. Included in uncertainty above and may encompass effects from air supply, flow bench, plenum and connecting volume and part.
Part Pressure Ratio Range: 1.07 to 5.08. (0.007-0.414 MPa gauge pressure) (other ranges are available). 3-Part pressure transducers include 0.0345 MPa g, 0.138 MPa g, 0.714 MPa g (0-5, 0-20, 0-100 psig)
Cycle Time: Estimated at 30 to 60 seconds depending percent of maximum capacity.
Connections: Low Flow Manifold (2.5” Sanitary Flange), High Flow Manifold (6” Sanitary Flange), Pressure (-4 Swagelok Instrumentation Quick Connects QC Series).
Software: The test stand is automated using a PC based control system running National Instruments Lab View software on a Microsoft Windows Operating System. System software will be installed on the onboard PC (Dell or equal, 24” Flat Panel Color Monitor and HP or equal Desk Jet Printer). Diagnostics: Global Internet Diagnostics for training and troubleshooting included.
Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): FLOW SYSTEMS standard FAT will be completed on each system prior to shipment and a certificate of completion will be provided. Optional customer witness and demonstration of FAT for 2 days in included. Travel and local living expenses are the responsibility of the customer.
FLOW SYSTEMS - High Flow Test Stand, Heat Exchanger package description and benefits
Package includes the following to achieve the reduced uncertainty and improved repeatability (see specs above):
Two heat exchangers and supporting equipment.
A tube and shell type heat exchanger is used for the inlet of the small plenum.
For the inlet of the large plenum a pressure vessel that contains three series mounted oil coolers is used to attain the required heat transfer while minimizing pressure drop.
Propylene glycol, a non-toxic heat transfer fluid, is continually pumped thru the plenum heat exchangers.
Heat is rejected or collected as required from the fluid via a radiator that vents out the underside of the bench.
The full system is built into the flow bench and doesn't have any additional facilities requirements.

Allows any number of configured tests to be executed in a sequence.
Virtual tests can be programmed in the schedule to calculate and evaluate results based on previous test values in algebraic equations.
