The Hearson Tobacco Oven is specifically designed for the controlled
testing of tobacco moisture. The temperature of the air within the chamber
is carefully and accurately controlled at a level which ensures that only
water and volatiles with a boiling point of up to 100°c are released.
This is achieved through a system that relies on a water res ervoir with a
special steam boiler which is housed in a copper coil. An electric blower at
the base of the oven passes air through the heated copper coil, which then
enters the drying chamber through an air distribution tube. The preheated
air is always maintained at the boiling point of water, ensuring reliable,
consistent and comparable results on every occasion.
