A high quality UV/Vis spectrophotometer ideally suited for monitoring turbid samples (e.g., solutions of soil, tissue, yeast, and other particulate matter). The dual wavelength spectrophotometer's optics are those of an original Aminco DW-2 [A/C], so the optical performance is identical to that achieved by the original highly respected and still application appropriate spectrophotometer with two improvements: derivative spectra acquisition is now done mathematically rather than through the scanning of both monochromators (therefore, since there is no longer an application where this could be used, scanning of the second monochromator is no longer supported); and kinetic data are collected at up to 1000 points per millisecond in a single wavelength, not dual wavelength, mode, removing the need for the original high speed chopper mode. All non-optical hardware is by OLIS or our suppliers, inclusive of a synchronous motor operated from a 60 Hz AC supply, 20 step/ nm stepping motor coupled to the lead screw of the monochromator #1, power supplies for the new tungsten halide and deuterium lamps, and a photometer box containing the photocurrent amplifier and other electronics. The provided computer hardware includes an OLIS verified and supported Windows 10 Pro 64 bit desktop computer. Interface includes a 20 kHz A/D. SpectralWorks is our proprietary intelligently designed software package which supports powerful user control of the monochromators, high voltages, and other parameters effecting instrument control; also includes all facilities for data collection, data manipulation, data storage/retrieval, and data display. Data may be collected and analyzed as spectral or kinetic records. The software also supports the extrapolation of kinetic information from spectral sets, or vice versa. Unique OLIS algorithms allow synthesis of kinetic, Gaussian, and scatter plot data sets for comparison, evaluation, and pedagogical purposes. Entire modern and computerized dual wavelength spectrophotometer is supported by and serviceable through OLIS. Instrument dimensions are approximately 44" x 22" x 21.5". First year warranty covers all issues; a modestly priced Warranty Renewal Package is available on an annual basis.
